BackSaver
The BackSaver is an innovative new product to help with getting a wheelchair into the boot of a car.
Simply unroll the BackSaver, place the wheelchair on the top and walk it into the boot using the hand holds. The BackSaver avoids the need to bend to lift the wheelchair, thereby reducing the risk of back injury.
HDTI were approached by inventor Peter Thorneycroft of South Birmingham NHS Primary Care Trust and MidTECH NHS Innovation West Midlands to develop the design and produce a proof of concept prototype.
This was showcased at Naidex 2009 on the HDTI stand and following this exposure a license deal between the NHS and Mangar was agreed and the product is now available to purchase. Mangar won the new product award at Naidex in 2010 with their BackSaver product.
