Welcome to CU Coventry

We are delighted that you have chosen to study with us, and we can’t wait to get started. You will receive a variety of emails and instructions on how to enrol and access our systems, including your timetable. Below is key information on your enrolment process and what’s on during Welcome Week. Teaching Block 5 starts on Monday 29 April 2024.

Enrolment and Your Student ID Card

You can find all the information about enrolment and collection of your Student ID card by visiting our enrolment page.

Your online induction

The online induction includes an introduction to the CU Group, hints and tips on student life, and instructions on accessing your course learning materials. You will be able to come back to this online induction at any time.

Online learning is new for many students, so the induction includes IT help to get you started:

How to use Wayfinder (Online hub for navigating our services and viewing your timetable)

Grab your welcome bag

Come along to get your welcome bag between 10.30 – 11.30am, 1 – 2 pm and 3 – 4pm on Monday 29 April 2024. There will also be some other free goodies available to pop in your bags!

Meet the Student Success Coaches

The Student Success Coaches are here to help you identify and achieve your academic ambitions as well as help you make the most of your university experience. You can visit them from 10.30am - 11.30am, 1pm - 2pm and 3pm - 4pm on Monday 29 April, to discuss how we can support your student journey. From enrolment to graduation, Student Success Coaches can help you with:

Coaching, guidance: 1-1 coaching sessions to improve performance and productivity.
Success Plans: If you would like to develop clear steps to be success, they can help you create a personalised, action plan to follow.
Improving Skills: You can book 1-1, paired or group sessions to improve your skills and abilities, in line with your goals.
Mentoring: They can provide a variety of options to connect you with your peers, including through an app called Vygo. Additionally, if you believe you have skills or knowledge in a particular area, they can show you how to become a mentor to support other students.
Communication: Simply put - they are there to listen. If you have any questions you wish to ask or just want to find out more about how they can support your development, come and find them. They are in the reception area at Mile Lane and will be happy to meet you.

Meet the Talent Team

The Talent Team is the careers service for CU Coventry and is accessible to all students!

They will be around on Monday 29 April from 10:30am – 11:30am and 1pm - 2pm, to chat about the services they offer to support you in all aspects of careers and employability. Whether you are looking for a part-time job, a work placement during your studies or career advice and planning, the Talent Team are here to support you!

They will also be demonstrating their online portal Handshake and activating student accounts.

Handshake enables students to access all the careers services and resources including booking 1-1 appointments (virtually or in-person), careers-focused workshops, employer talks and job/work experience opportunities.

We recommend that you come and have a chat with the Talent Team so they can explain how they can support you in achieving your career goals.

Meet the Welfare and Disability Team

The Welfare and Disability Team will be available both Monday 29 April from 10am to 11am and from 1pm to 2pm to discuss how they can assist you with any concerns or issues relating to Welfare and Disability.

All students have access to a Welfare Adviser who can offer support by providing a broad range of advice and guidance on personal, practical, and emotional issues.

Meet the Library Team

The CU Coventry Library is located on the ground floor of the Mile Lane Building, just past the cafe.

The Library provides free access to all of your key course reading in print and, where available, as eBooks, collections of leisure reading and graphic novels and laptops for on campus use.

If you are unable to make it to one of the tours, please come along to the Library to meet the team, get a tour and Virtual Tour.

Academic Writing Service and English Language Support

During your first few weeks at CU Coventry, you can visit the Library to see how you can get support from our Academic Writing Service and English Language Support Tutor. Also, Library & Academic Writing staff will be at induction events and available to give you more information about the services.

Introducing Your Students’ Union

Your Students' Union is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of students studying at the Coventry University Group. They are a student-led organisation with students at the heart of their decision making.

They provide students with opportunities to get involved with sports clubs, societies, communities, skills development and so much more! They also run Get Social, a weekly social event based across a number of venues in Coventry city centre. As mentioned above, they also run both the Advice Service and the rep system here at Coventry University, which aim to support students through their academic journey.

Throughout your time at CU Coventry, you will see them hosting events and campaigns on campus that students are welcome to get involved with. You can find out more about everything they offer by visiting their website.

Meet Your Students’ Union – Monday 29 April from 11am to 3pm - From helping you develop your employability skills to helping you find the right sports club or society; Your SU friendly team will be on hand to help you find something for you.

Estate Services

This stand offers advice about sustainable living at the university. The Estate Services offer advice on travel, campus biodiversity, how students can get involved in projects and what they can do as individuals to help the planet.

You can also get informed about the long sustainability targets and strategies the university has in place to achieve net zero by 2030. And how the students play an important role in meeting these environmental targets.
