Academic heads have been given a sneak peak of CU Coventry’s new £33 million state-of-the-art campus in the city as the site prepares to open its doors to up to 3,000 students in March.
Work is well-underway on transforming the former BT building, in Mile Lane, into a cutting-edge and modern learning space that will promote collaboration and creativity.
CU Coventry, part of the Coventry University Group, held a tour for its heads of curriculum who were invited to take a sneak preview of the site as the finishing touches are put in place.
Wilmott Dixon began renovating the building in July which will include teaching rooms, IT suites, engineering and science labs, a moot court and a café, as well as extensive breakout areas.
The final work is being completed before the furniture is delivered and members of staff officially move into the building next month.
Jackie Mathers, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor at CU Coventry, said:
Our new campus is a ground-breaking development for CU Coventry and it was excellent to welcome our heads of curriculum to tour the building and see how it is taking shape.
An incredible amount of work has gone into transforming the building into a fantastic contemporary campus that reflects our innovative model of education.
Providing a flexible education is at the heart of our new campus, with features including flexible working space, breakout areas which can be used for teaching and study, as well as outdoor space contributing to this.
The work is on schedule for staff to move into the building at the end of February before teaching begins in March.
