Your first weeks
We are delighted that you have chosen to study with us and we can’t wait to get started. You will receive a variety of emails and instructions on how to enrol and access our systems, including your timetable. Below is key information on what’s on during your first week.
Welcome week at CU London Greenwich
During your first week(s) at CU London you will receive an orientation to CU London and your course from your course leader or Head of Curriculum for your subject area during class time. It is really important you bring your laptop to class to be able to learn about all the platforms and systems that you will need as a student.
Additionally, we have organised an induction support event on 8th May 2024, where you get to meet the wonderful support teams and ask one-to-one questions, get to know what they do, learn how to create a study plan, get hands-on technical and digital support and get a tour of the facilities. This one-off event is essential to attend and it will help you navigate being a successful CU London student.

Meet the Welfare & Disability Team
All students have access to a Welfare Adviser who can offer support by providing a broad range of advice and guidance on personal, practical, and emotional issues.
Support and guidance are also provided for students with disabilities and long-term health conditions. This includes assistance with the Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA).

Student success coaches
Our Student Success Coaches are available to support you throughout your student journey, not just during the first few weeks. Why not come and see us to discuss the services we offer and how we can help you make the most of your time while studying with us. We can support you find ways to manage your studies, as well as any other commitments you may have. We can guide you to develop your skills which may include directing you to relevant opportunities that are available and a wide range of services you can access.
Our team is focused on helping you unlock your full potential to maximize your growth and development in both your educational and personal goals. We offer 1-to-1 solution focused sessions that are tailored to your specific goals and ways to achieve them. We work together with you to create a Student-led Success Plan that you are comfortable with, to help you identify and achieve your goals and aspirations. We care about your holistic wellbeing so even if you want to just come by and have a chat about matters that are not academically related, we are here to listen.
Additionally, we can assist you in downloading the Vygo app, which is a Peer Mentoring app. This app allows you to connect with fellow students in CU Coventry, CU London and CU Scarborough, providing you with the opportunity to expand your network further.

The Talent Team aims to provide you with a new type of professional careers and employability support throughout your journey with us. Not only do we aim to guide you towards a successful graduate life, but we also aim to serve your individual needs and aspirations by providing the right kind of career support, from enrolment to graduation and beyond. We look after all activities related to support, career development and advice, employer engagement, and core skills development.
Below are some of the ways in which our team can help you:
- proactive, personalised engagement and support through 1-to-1 appointments
- support with CV writing and job application processes
- advice and guidance on UK and International internship options available, with support throughout the process
- course-embedded employability skills, including employer input where appropriate
- support with discussions around further study and training
- specialist support up to 24 months from the end of your course

Your Students’ Union activities during Welcome Week
Your Students' Union is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of students studying at the Coventry University Group. They are a student-led organisation with students at the heart of their decision making.
They provide students with opportunities to get involved with societies, communities, skills development and so much more! They also run both the Advice Service and the rep system here at CU London, which aims to support students through their academic journey.
Throughout your time at CU London, you will see them hosting events and campaigns at our London campuses that students are welcome to get involved with. You can find out more about everything they offer by visiting their website.
Your Students’ Union will have a programme of welcome activities planned and delivered on-site aimed at making friends, getting to know the area, and having a smooth introduction to student life.
To maximise what you can get out of your membership from Your Students’ Union set up your students’ union profile.
Once on the site click the “Student Login” button and sign in with your university ID and password.
The programme is packed with activities, offers, opportunities, and any other support you may need.
