Businesses in Scarborough who would like to enrol staff on a digital degree apprenticeship are encouraged to apply before the December 1st deadline to qualify for a January start.
Places are available on the Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship. Taught every Wednesday from the university’s campus in Scarborough, the BSc (Hons) degree takes three years to complete alongside a full-time job.
The course is relevant to staff working in the following roles: Software Engineer, IT Project Manager, Network Engineer, Cyber Security Analyst, Database Specialist, Data Analyst or Digital Media Technology Practitioner. And includes modules on App Development, Hardware and System Design as well as Database and Web Applications.
One student currently on the course is Zak Slater. Zak works for North Yorkshire County Council as a Digital and Technical Solutions Assistant and started the course in October.
I’m enjoying the course so far. It allows me to study and immediately put what I’ve learned into practice at work.
Zak Slater
This course is a great way to increase skill levels and ensure that there is a clear path for young people from education to employment in North Yorkshire, creating a workforce that meets the needs of its businesses.
It allows apprentices to work for the council and study at the same time. At the end of their course they will have a job and will leave university without debt.
County Councillor Patrick Mulligan, Executive Member for Education and Skills at NYCC
Anyone wanting to know about taking advantage of the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy payments to send staff on the course should contact Tina Steele on tina.steele@coventry.ac.uk.
