Although Sir Thomas Beecham likened the sound of a harpsichord to “two skeletons copulating on a tin roof” there is no denying its indispensable role in the history of music.
This concert explores the harpsichord in all its guises from its supporting role as a continuo instrument in the Biber and the Bach to its place in the spotlight as a solo instrument in the Scarlatti, Couperin and De Falla. An illuminating performance featuring baroque specialist, jazz musician and composer David Gordon.
