About

Tiziana Cervi- Wilson teaches Italian undergraduate modules from beginner to advanced level  and she is also the coordinator (Course Director) for all the languages modules.

In addition, she is the internal moderator for the undergraduate module “Materials Evaluation and Design in a Multimedia World” and for the postgraduate modules “English Language Teaching in Practice” and “Computer Assisted Language Learning: Theory and Practice”

Career overview

Tiziana Cervi-Wilson holds an M.A in Management from Coventry University and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

She was previously a Lecturer in Italian in the Modern Languages BA at Coventry University. She has worked as an academic Business, Language and Culture Adviser for the Placement and Employability Unit at Coventry University. She also taught briefly at Warwick University.

She has been the co-Project leader for Routes into Languages Project for the West Midlands Consortium, a national project to encourage and enthuse young people to learn languages.

She has also been a representative for the Language Horizons project, which champions the multilingual and multicultural landscape of the UK, training university students to act as role models for languages pathway and Higher Education.

She has taken an active part in the “Coventry City of Languages” project in collaboration with Warwick University, the British Council, local businesses, local councillors, and language organisations across the UK. The aim of the project is to change perceptions and ultimately change policies in language learning.  

Tiziana has been an active organiser of promotional activities in schools in Coventry and in the West Midlands area to increase the take up of languages, enhancing students’ employability.

Research

Her research interests include digital literacies, language learning and mobile assisted language learning and gamification. She has developed a beginners’ Italian language learning app,” ImparApp”, together with colleagues in the University‘s Disruptive Media Lab.

External activities

She has given talks in many universities, including Birmingham, Aston, Southampton, Warwick University. She has contributed to various articles and has been External Examiner for undergraduate courses at Nottingham Trent University and she has undertaken the role of link Tutor and moderator of the Italian modules at SML Lyon (France) for the Academic Partnership Unit (APU).
