Biography
I am a Lecturer in Sport Management at Coventry University. I have research interests in the fields of sport, culture, and politics and have published articles in Sport in Society, Soccer and Society, and Sociological Research Online. I also have an interest in innovative pedagogy and have published in Research in Post-Compulsory Education.
I was previously a Lecturer in Public Services and a Research Assistant in the Centre for the Study of Football and its Communities, Manchester Metropolitan University. I've also worked in teaching and research positions at Kingston University and the University of Central Lancashire.

- PhD in Politics, Kingston University, 2013.
- Literature since 1950 MA, University of Gloucestershire, 2004.
Research interests
I am currently researching a number of sport-related topics. These include the impact of austerity measures on sport organisations, the use of sport in political campaigns, sport and sustainability, and the relationship between sport and other forms of culture.
I am co-editing a special edition of International Journal of Sport Politics and Policy on the effects of austerity measures on sport in Europe, and have recently had an article accepted for Soccer and Society which examines discussions of football within contemporary literature. Other projects include an analysis of the impact of “Sport for Yes” on the Scottish independence referendum.
