Biography
I joined Coventry University as Lecturer in Economics in November 2015. I have previously been employed as a Lecturer at Keele University, and as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Warwick.
I am a HEA Fellow and hold a postgraduate certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Keele University. I also hold a PhD in Economics, an MSc in Economics and Econometrics, and a BEconSc in Economics: all from the University of Manchester. My PhD studies were funded by an ESRC scholarship.
I have experience teaching across all core areas of economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, in particular macroeconomics. I have also taught courses in microeconomics, applied economics, mathematics, statistics, and finance.
Qualifications
- PhD in Economics, University of Manchester.
- Economics & Econometrics MSc (Distinction), University of Manchester.
- Economics BEconSc (First Class), University of Manchester.
Research interests
I am mainly interested in the area of economic growth and development, in particular the relationship between growth and unsound governance. My current research builds on my PhD thesis (entitled “Public Policy, Bureaucratic Corruption, and Economic Development”) in which I analysed the interactions between corruption and growth in a dynamic general equilibrium framework. The purpose of the research is to explain empirical evidence that suggests that corruption has a deleterious effect on growth, and to analyse the role of policy in the presence of widespread corruption.
