Ian Wilcox

Biography

Ian has over 25 years of experience in the application of dimensional metrology and the management of metrology teams within manufacturing engineering. Supporting a wide and varied range of manufacturing companies best practice and technology solutions. This experience was gained working for Jaguar Cars Ltd. and the worlds two largest dimensional metrology equipment manufacturers Mitutoyo and Hexagon Metrology. His career also includes a recent 3 year spell in the skills sector working with several Sector Skills Councils and their subsiduary National Skills Academies in technical skills learning and development.

His role as a metrology specilaist at Coventry University is described as his ‘perfect storm’. Blending together his deep metrology experience, an up to date appreciation of technology and equipment, knowledge of the skills network and training delivery techniques, and his excellent customer development and strategic relationship skills. Ian’s experience combined with the strong reputation Coventry University has built to date for metrology expertise makes for a good blend to support UK manufacturing in its metrology challenges.
