Senior Lecturer: Adult Field Nursing
Gay completed a traditional SRN training at Westminster hospital in London and remained in London for 10 years gaining experience in several hospitals and clinical areas including Kings College, Guys Hospital; before leaving London. She started specialising in nurse education and completed both Clinical teaching and Tutor qualifications at South bank polytechnic. On arrival in the Midlands, she became part of the Coventry School of Nursing based at Walsgrave Hospital; changes in nurse preparation lead to integration between local schools becoming Coventry and Warwickshire college of Nursing before development of the Nursing team within the faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University.
Her areas of interest include biological science, teaching first year modules anatomy and physiology and 2nd year students applied pathology and nursing care. Her specialist area includes pain management which she has explored and researched to MSc level. This is an area she teaches at both pre-and post-registration. Her responsibilities have included Course Directorship of pre-registration adult courses and currently involve support for international students who choose to do a one year full-time top up degree in nursing theory.
