Welcome week

Our team of student ambassadors will be available to show you around campus and give you a first-hand insight into Coventry University’s student experience. These tours will feature our main campus buildings, which will help you get to know your way around campus.

Campus tours begin outside of The Hub, at 1pm on Monday 13 May. Look out for our meeting point sign, located outside The Hub.

Arguably the most iconic building on campus, Lanchester Library has more than 1,400 study spaces and over 500 computers across its five floors. The library is also home to academic support centres such as the sigma Mathematics and Statistics Support Centre and the Centre for Academic Writing. It has a variety of different study environments to suit all needs.

The library is open 24 hours every day including weekends, so if you want to pop in and look around, please do. Our Welcome Desk staff will be happy to see you.

After completing your enrolment, we will assign a Student Success Coach to you. Their aim is to ensure you have the support you need to make the most of your course and all that university life offers.

Whether you need help accessing services, want to learn more about peer-to-peer mentoring or get support in managing your studies, your coach is here to help!

Our Lost and Found Property Office is on the Ground Floor of Priory Building / Foundation Campus.

You can also speak to this team about personal safety or other security queries.
The Office is open from 12pm to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Grab something tasty to eat and drink at the food court (First Floor, The Hub). You can find a range of hot and cold food to enjoy, such as salads, pasta, pizza, world cuisine and more! The food court is open 11am – 6pm.

The city centre is only a short distance away if you feel like exploring, and it offers a wide range of places to eat and drink.

The best way to get into town from University Square is via St Michael’s Avenue, between the cathedrals (leading on to Broadgate) and the Cathedral Lanes area, where you will find a choice of bars and restaurants.

Information Points are located across campus and are the first point of contact for all students for advice and guidance. We employ experienced Customer Experience Advisers at all Information Points who have a generic training and are therefore capable of giving the same details no matter which one you may visit.

After you've completed your enrolment, you can collect your student ID in person.

Student ID cards will be issued 9am - 4pm, at the Refectory (Priory Street), from 22 April to 31 May 2024.

Returning students who need a replacement ID card can get one from the Infopoint desk in The Hub. In order to verify your identity, you’ll need to bring the documentation listed in our accepted proof of identity and nationality document.

Your Students’ Union (SU) exists to enhance your experience as a student. The SU is independent from the university, non-profit and here right from the moment you start through to graduation with events, opportunities, advice, campaigns and more.

For each intake, Your SU plan a line-up of events, activities, and fairs to welcome you and help kickstart your university experience. They also offer a range of support services to help you settle in. Whether you need advice on housing, finances, or academic issues when your course starts, the independent, confidential advice service exists to help you.

Protection Services provide support for critical incidents, safety and security on campus. They provide advice and practical solutions regarding your personal safety.

We run regular ‘Drop In’ roadshows on campus where students can talk to officers about personal safety and security and where items such as bicycle locks, personal attack alarms and UV marker pens are available at low cost. We also promote the use of SafeZone.

Protection Services hold regular accommodation safety talks at the Information Points in university-owned Halls of Residence.

The control room operates from the Alma Building, 24/7and can be contacted by telephone on 024 7765 7363 for assistance and general enquiries or on 024 7765 5555 in case of emergencies.

Emergency help points are located in the ‘Public Realm’ area (in front of the William Morris building) and in Starley Gardens.

Protection Officers are based in Halls of Residence (that are directly owned by the University) and The Hub 24/7.
