Visa Process

Successful visa applications

If your application has been successful you will be a given a certificate stamped in your passport that gives you permission to enter and stay in the UK. This will include the type of permission granted (i.e. ‘student’), the length of stay, and any restrictions. The stamp should include the wording ‘Work (and any changes) must be authorised’ this gives you permission to work in the UK subject to the restrictions applicable for students.

You should ensure that you are given the correct entry clearance as ‘student’. If you are bringing family with you they should be given clearance as student dependants.

Unsuccessful visa applications

You will not be allowed in to the UK if your visa application has been unsuccessful. Please do not travel to the UK as you will be refused entry upon arrival.

In the unlikely event your application is refused, we may be able to advise whether you can apply for administrative review or re-apply for your visa.

Administrative Review - the appeal process has been replaced by an ‘administrative review’. A request for ‘Administrative review’ is a request for your visa decision to be looked at by another Entry Clearance Officer. Unless an obvious error has been made, it is unlikely that any decision will be overturned.

To receive advice on your eligibility for administrative review you will need to scan and email a copy of your draft, including the reasons for requesting a review to visahelp.io@coventry.ac.uk. Address your communication for the attention of the ‘International Student Adviser’.

Contact our refusals team as soon as you are made aware of your refusal. The team will aim to get back to your email within two working days. Please ensure you have included your full name, course title, applicant number and contact details so that we can respond to you as soon as possible.
