Last week, Coventry University London hosted guest lecturer Anestis Anastasiou to give a lecture on ‘Leadership in different cultural contexts.’ The lecture was delivered to students from the MBA International Human Resources Management and MBA Global Business courses studying the Leadership Module.
Anestis Anastasiou has over ten years experience as a lecturer for Business and Management modules. He founded and runs AA & Partners, corporate training and human resource services provider, making him an invaluable resource for our students.
With a masters in International Management from LSE, Mr Anastasiou drew on his experience working in various managerial positions for international companies to illustrate the challenges that can be faced in multicultural organisations. Anestis advised students on how to demonstrate awareness of different cultural norms, setting the different requirements for dealing with individuals and teams within organisations.
He went onto to talk about the influence organisation culture can have on creating a supportive environment for employees of varied cultures. Finally, he advised on how to reduce conflict in teams. Students were highly interested in the advice he gave and were eager to question him more on his own experience in management.
