Supporting our students in launching the career of their choice is a key part of the service we provide. This month, our Careers, Employability and Enterprise Team invited guest lecturer, Alistair Hudson, to talk to students about Investment 20/20. The company helps aspirational individuals to break into the investment industry. Mr Hudson, University Outreach Consultant for Investment 20/20, spoke to students from our BA International Finance and Accounting, and our BA Top Up Accounting and Finance courses.
In his lecturer ‘Opening up the world of investment management’, Mr Hudson explained how the Investment 20/20 trainee scheme for graduates works. Trainees, he told the room, spend a year working in one of the 39 host companies with whom Investment 20/20 have established connections. With a 96% retention rate, he made clear how effective the scheme was in helping students to launch a career in investment.
The event was a very interactive session, with students highly interested in the scheme and keen to find out more. Mr Hudson answered questions on the support provided by Investment 20/20, as well as giving advice on preparing an application and making oneself stand out from the crowd.
The Careers, Employability and Enterprise Team looks forward to hosting many more guest speakers to inspire our students over the academic year.
