One of the most respected management bodies, Chartered Management Institute (CMI), together with leading CEO and entrepreneur Neil Goulden recently visited Coventry University London Campus to speak to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Neil Goulden has spent the last twenty five years at board level within a number of leisure businesses including Ladbrokes, Compass Plc, Allied Leisure Plc and the Gala Coral Group. Neil gave an engaging presentation on leadership and building a career whilst Zain Munir of CMI spoke to students about the aim and role of CMI within the business industry.
The presentation covered areas such as how management may be applied; the skills and attributes which are needed to manage people as a profession, the importance of interaction within a company and reasons why companies may put this at the centre of their business strategy. Useful tips on applying for jobs and career paths into different types of managerial careers were also discussed.
Carole Still, Fellow Chartered Manager and Head of Professional Development stated:
“Neil’s talk on leadership was both inspirational and achievable. He lifted the often complex veil on leadership revealing key principles. In doing so Neil helped the students to understand the tenets of great leadership.”
Usha Mistry Lead Teaching Fellow said:
“Students were delighted to learn that on completion of BA(Hons) Global Business Management the London Campus is seeking to gain full academic exemptions to Chartered Institute of Management level 5 diploma in Management and Leadership. This will greatly enhance students' career prospects at the end of their studies.”
The Coventry University London campus venture with CMI is part of their ongoing commitment to promoting the importance of professional qualification recognition, entrepreneurship, education and employability within its curriculum.
