New Peer Mentoring Programme at Coventry University London Campus

‘The Mentoring Cloud’ is a peer-to-peer mentoring scheme being delivered at Coventry University London Campus. The volunteer-run initiative, which was set up by John Watkins, Programme Leader at London Campus, is successfully running for the second consecutive year. The aim of the programme is to match new students with more experienced ones who will be able to guide them through the particularities of university life and of life in London. The Mentoring Cloud provides a platform for students to talk about any university-related challenges with their peers, both face to face and online.

 “Currently we have 15 mentors and over 40 mentees on the postgraduate level, and six mentors and 20 mentees on the undergraduate level,” says Ruobing Zhang, a student at the London Campus who is working as a project manager for the Mentoring Cloud. “The initiative is proving to be very popular with the students, many people signed up during the Welcome Week in October.”

Student involvement and engagement are a top priority at Coventry University London Campus. Initiatives like the Mentoring Cloud not only help students develop transferable skills but also contribute to overall student satisfaction.

Tao Xue, an MBA Global Business student and a mentor, said:

“I am very happy that I’ve joined the programme. When I came here to study, I was not familiar with the environment and the academic system, which posed some challenges. I think it’s a great opportunity to help students adapt faster and overcome the same challenges that I once faced.”
