Dr Stella Nalwanga is Senior Lecturer in Business and Management at Coventry University London. She holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Greenwich. She successfully defended her PhD thesis on the topic of “Social Capital, Board Behaviour and Governance: Evidence from Ugandan Banking.”

Dr Nalwanga’s main duties at Coventry University London include leading various modules: Risk, Governace and Patient Safety, Transforming Healthcare Systems and Resource Management in Healthcare. As a module leader, she facilitates an excellent learning environment for students. Her duties require her to stay up to date with the latest academic and industry trends, as well as developing her subject material. She has also led, managed and delivered the Business Law module at Coventry University London, due to her background in law and business.

Additionally, Dr Nalwanga is Course Director for the MBA Global Healthcare Management and Leadership Course.

Research and Consultancy

Dr Nalwanga is a critical theorist with prime interests in governance activities and their relationship to social theories, such as social capital.

Dr Nalwanga's PhD topic was Social Capital, Board Behaviour and Governnace: Evidence from Ugandan Banking. The central aim of this study was to understand how social capital influences the behaviours of boards of directors, in the governance of Ugandan banks. In addressing this, the research demonstrates how directors build, develop, and use social capital. Additionally, the research discusses how social capital affects directors behaviours, which may ultimately influence the governance of Ugandan banks.
