The Doctoral College & Centre for Research Capability and Development hosted the 2020 Coventry University Research Hootenanny, where the winners of the Postgraduate Researcher of the Year and Three Minute Thesis competitions were announced. The highlight of the week was the Postgraduate of the Year and Three Minute Thesis competitions.

Molly Browne from the Centre of Arts, Memory and Communities won the award for Postgraduate Researcher of the Year. She presented her research on how outdoor and nature based activities can help people living with dementia.

The Three Minute Thesis competition was also held at the Research Hootenanny, where entrants presented their research project in just three minutes. Matthew Lamaudiere, from the Centre for Sport, Life and Exercise Sciences, was chosen as the competition winner for his presentation on his research on cancer prevention strategies.

The Hootenanny was a week-long programme of events for researchers across the university. Events ranged from research impact workshops to interactive panel discussions and celebrated the diverse range of projects being undertaken by Coventry’s research community.

It was great to see a broad range of research from across the university being celebrated at the Research Hootenanny.
It was also a great opportunity for our postgraduate researchers to explore new ways to undertake and share research on a local, national and international scale.

Professor Richard Dashwood, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)
