Coventry University Group is hoping to increase its global footprint and contribution to clean growth by working with Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) to develop studies in renewable energy.
The two higher education organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see them discuss the development of a new joint programme in environment, business, law and computing.
These subjects were selected due to UMU’s commitment to expanding their capacity to deliver programmes in these fields.
The relationship has been developed by Coventry University Group’s Africa Hub, based in Kigali, Rwanda. It is one the Group’s network of five Global Hubs, with a sixth due to open in India this year.
The organisations will look to discuss developing an integrated academic programme in which students would commence their studies at UMU and complete at Coventry University.
This agreement is another step forward in Coventry University Group’s continued success in collaborating with important institutions in Africa. The opportunities in this area show that we are making a big difference for people across the continent.
Professor Silas Lwakabamba, Regional Managing Director of Coventry University’s Africa Hub
Uganda Martyrs University is a private, not-for-profit university in Uganda. The university celebrated 30 years of contributing to human capital development and socio-economic transformation in October last year.
UMU is very pleased to be in collaboration with Coventry University through its hub in Kigali. The contextual relevance this brings will be greatly harnessed in improving the quality of our mutual benefits from the collaborations.
Professor Patrick Edrin Kyamanywa, Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Vice-Chancellor
