Charlotte's story
After my degree I spent 8 years working in retail, but I got to the point where it didn’t challenge me anymore. Teaching has always been in the back of my mind, and all my education was focused on art and design, so I decided to quit my job, apply for the course and I’ve not looked back since.
I wanted the experience of school-based learning, but I’ve got a little one at home so this combination with online learning is a good mix for me.
They run most of the course on FutureLearn, and it’s flexible so if you fall behind you can catch up. We’ve had webinars that would’ve been residential days but they’ve been mind-blowing – they host really engaging speakers.
I really like the modern approach to teaching, it makes sense: it’s focused on the students’ well-being, their learning and progress, and everything is backed by up-to-date research.
If you’re passionate and you know that teaching is what you want to do, go for it! I’ve really enjoyed the independent learning and flexibility, and I’d recommend it to anyone, it’s perfect.
