Coventry University and Kadir Has University, Istanbul, have today signed a number of agreements signalling a long-term strategic partnership between the Universities.
Encompassing a high-level memorandum of understanding, two progression agreements and an Erasmus agreement, the partnership further strengthens both Universities' globalisation agenda by formalising increased opportunity for student and staff exchange as well as joint research projects.
The agreements were signed today at an official ceremony at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, attended by Sir David Reddaway, British Ambassador to Turkey, and representatives from the Boards of both Universities.
The partnership will initially focus on developing collaborative academic programmes to prepare students for global careers, alongside building strong research links between the two organisations. The two organisations will also promote greater student and staff mobility and develop shared summer schools to open up educational access.
Dr. David Pilsbury, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Development, Coventry University, said:
The partnership agreements signed today are critical in the international development of each University, as well as in the growth of educational collaboration between the UK and Turkey more widely. We are proud to be one of the first universities to make such a significant commitment to Turkey.
The opportunity for Coventry and Kadir Has Universities to advance our work together based on a collaborative curriculum, exchange programme and joint research is a major development of our international agenda.
Professor. Dr. Mustafa Aydin, Rector, Kadir Has University, said:
Kadir Has University has enjoyed a close working relationship with Coventry University as we share a philosophy of quality teaching and international delivery. We are excited to formalise this relationship today for the benefit of students in both countries.
Kadir Has University has always been a world university in the centre of Istanbul. The ability to work collaboratively with Coventry will provide new and innovative ways to educate our students, giving them truly global experiences with one of the UK's foremost universities.
