Twenty-one photography students will be showing off their final projects at the upcoming Exposure 24 graduate exhibition taking place in Coventry and London during June.
The exhibition has been organised by students on the internationally-renowned photography course at Coventry University and features images on a range of subject matters. These include:
Paul Smith, senior lecturer in Photography at Coventry University, said:
Whether still or moving, analogue or digital, this group have engaged with the subject and excelled in their experiments to create new and innovative work, and as innovative practice promotes new forms of critical engagement, this has become their raison d’etre.
These graduates have now found their own unique visual voice within the new media landscape. From now on they will help to redefine and reshape this landscape into their own.
Photography student Dorrell Merritt said:
This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our talent and all that we have worked hard to develop over the last three years. These are exciting times for all of us and it is great to be able to use the Degree Show to introduce my work to new people - to be a stepping stone into my career and for people to see what I do.
The innovative Photography course also adopted a new teaching method for the first time this year, with four distinguished photographers joining the team as mentors for the students.
Designed to give them the opportunity to work with leading experts from a diversity of photographic backgrounds, the mentors were Caroline Molloy, who specialises in editorial portraiture; Dr Tom Hunter, famous for making sumptuous, colour saturated cibachrome prints that illustrate the lives of various subcultural groups; Suky Best, who works with print, animation and installation; and Harry Hardie, known extensively for his documentary-based photography.
Exposure24 will be held in Coventry first, before moving on to London later the same month, taking place from 1st – 10th June at the Lanchester Gallery in the Coventry University Hub Building, Jordan Well (not including bank holidays) and then at the Frameless Gallery, 20 Clerkenwell Green, London on 18th – 24th June.
