Coventry University is in the running for a leading industry award in recognition of the excellent work it does to help its students to secure international opportunities during their time there.
The University has been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Support for Students’ category in the Times Higher Education Awards 2014 for the activities of its International Experience and Mobility Service (IEMS), which gives students from all disciplines the chance to study, volunteer or work abroad, learn languages, and experience different cultures.
Now in its 10th year, the Times Higher Education Awards celebrate excellence within the sector and once again hundreds of nominations for outstanding institutions, departments and individuals across the country were submitted across 18 categories covering the full range of university activity.
Coventry University’s nomination follows its strong showing in the latest National Student Survey. The independent survey, which was published last month, saw satisfied students voting the University into the UK’s top 10. Coventry’s performance in the survey – which was completed by over 320,000 students around the country – also marked the fifth consecutive year that student satisfaction levels have risen at the institution.
IEMS Director Dr Jean-Bernard Adrey said:
We do our utmost to look after our students and to help them to make the most of their time with us by taking advantage of the numerous international opportunities we offer. In doing so, we help them acquire those inter-cultural competences which employers increasingly seek when they recruit graduates. We’re really pleased to see our efforts to foster global graduates being recognised at the national level.
The winners of the Times Higher Education Awards 2014 will be announced on Thursday 27 November 2014 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London at which over 1,000 guests are expected to attend, including politicians, senior sector figures, and academic and university staff from across the UK.
The full shortlist for all 18 categories is available at the Times Higher Education Awards 2014 website.
