Geraldine Brady has had a book chapter published. The Policy Press book ‘Family Troubles? Exploring changes and challenges in the family lives of children and young people’ raises the question of how ‘normal’ family troubles and troubled and troubling families are understood in current policy and research. Geraldine’s contribution, ‘Children’s non-conforming behaviour: personal trouble or public issue?’, reflects on the tensions involved in medical diagnosis of ADHD – diagnosis can be an avenue for eliciting support and intervention but also entails the individualisation of the ‘problem’. The book will be officially launched in June.
