Dealing with a crisis and protecting your businesses is the topic of an event planned for November.
Organised by Coventry University, Crisis Management in Business: Finding Resilience? is an opportunity for managers and business owners to share tools and experience in managing a crisis.
The free two-hour event, running from 7-9pm on 8 November, will be held at The Techno Centre, Puma Way, Coventry, and is open to anyone looking to prepare themselves and their organisation for a crisis.
Individuals who are also looking to widen their research and knowledge on crisis management are also welcome to attend.
Part of the annual, nationwide ESRC Festival of Social Science, the event will help firms to make quick, effective and informed decisions to support their future business. There will also be networking opportunities with individuals who have experience of managing a crisis or can help in particular situations.
Speakers include Professor Gerrit Sarens from the Louvain School of Management, Belgium, who has written more than 25 academic articles and books on internal auditing.
Leslie Spiers, a third year PhD student from Bournemouth University is a fellow of the Institute of Directors and, along with studying is also the chairman of the board of six companies.
Coventry University’s Dr Alessandro Merendino, who will lead the event, said:
“Crises can affect the best managed companies, regardless of size, and may be caused by a range of factures, so no organisation is immune.
“The success and future of your company will depend on your ability to prepare for and manage a crisis. Stakeholders can also offer support to organisations, so this event provides the opportunity for individuals from a range of sectors to share their experiences and the tools used to effectively manage an incident.”
