Informatics student Fabian Furger will be receiving more than just a certificate of his degree on his graduation day.
Fabian has been awarded a prize fund from the University’s robe makers, Messrs Ede & Ravenscroft, for his academic achievements. The award is granted to an international student based upon their overall academic excellence, with Fabian being considered amongst a number of other excellent nominee’s.
After studying Computer Science at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, Fabian moved to Lucerne University, where he continued his Computer Science studies for a further two years. He moved to Coventry in 2014 to complete the final year of his degree, choosing to study Informatics.
Reflecting on his choice Fabian said: “The course looked very interesting - which definitely turned out to be the case - furthermore, I’d heard good things from other students who’d studied the same course in previous years...Another priority of mine was to make sure I was able to practice my English, preferably in a native speaking country.”
Since finishing his course earlier this year Fabian’s already happily employed in a graduate role, however he maintains the value of the Ede & Ravenscroft award and spoke of his appreciation of it:
I was very surprised and excited to learn about the Prize and I do believe that it will certainly be beneficial in the future!”
When asked about his future plans Fabian said:
For the next few years I want to focus on gaining work experience, but then I see myself starting masters studies in maybe two years time.”
However before then Fabian will be putting the Ede & Ravenscroft prize fund to good use, rewarding the people who supported him through his studies - his family - with a celebratory meal.
The Ede & Ravenscroft Postgraduate Prize is awarded for overall academic excellence, with the University’s prizes panel choosing the recipient.
