Felix Dennis, one of Britain’s best-loved poets, will be performing at Coventry University on 17 October 2013.
An international phenomenon, Felix Dennis was the recent subject of a Sky Arts documentary featuring his pioneering poetry and the American author and critic Tom Wolfe has described Felix’s work as ‘the best poetry writing in the English language.’
Others, including British poet Benjamin Zephania, actor and writer Stephen Fry and musician and songwriter Sir Paul McCartney are equally lavish in their praise for his work. Felix’s poetry has also been performed by The Royal Shakespeare Company on both sides of the Atlantic.
Felix’s appearance in Coventry follows the launch of his seventh book of verse, Love Of A Kind, and marks the final date of his biggest ever tour, which has encompassed 30 venues across the UK, Ireland and the continent.
Did I Mention The Free Wine: The Cut-Throat Tour 2013 has filled theatres across the country and beyond, and follows the poet’s battle with life-threatening throat cancer. After being diagnosed in January last year, Surgeons miraculously saved Dennis’ stage voice which one journalist famously described as sounding like ‘Winston Churchill on steroids’.
Felix now comes to Coventry with what promises to be one of his most entertaining, heart-felt and personal performances, taking audiences on an exhilarating journey through the poetry that has spanned his lifetime.
Did I Mention The Free Wine: The Cut-Throat Tour 2013 takes place from 7pm on Thursday 17 October 2013 at Square One, in Coventry University’s student centre The Hub. Tickets are priced at £20 (£10 concessions) and can be booked online.
