Coventry University’s School of Art and Design is running free classes for school pupils across the region as part of a nationwide initiative to inspire creativity in young people.

The University has joined forces with The Sorrell Foundation to deliver weekly art lessons to young people aged between 14 and 16 years of age as part of its National Art and Design Saturday Club.

Art classes will be running in Coventry every Saturday morning for the next 30 weeks, covering everything from sketching to sculpturing, with members receiving expert tutelage from the University’s teaching staff and being allowed access to its specialist facilities completely free of charge.

Saturday Art Club members will also have the opportunity to visit some of London’s best museums and galleries during their studies and to attend a masterclass with one of the UK’s foremost designers or artists. The programme culminates with members exhibiting the work that they have produced during the course at their very own Summer Show at Somerset House in London next year.

The Saturday Art Club at Coventry School of Art and Design is open to boys and girls of all abilities and is free to attend. Further information about the club, including details of where and when classes take place and how to enrol can be obtained by contacting the club administrator Mandy Bisla on +44 (0)24 7688 7020 or via email mandy.bisla@coventry.ac.uk
