This event will introduce my research in disability sport and social change and how it has shaped my career.
Sport for disabled people was introduced not only as a form of rehabilitation, but as a way of showing non-disabled society what disabled people can achieve. The aim of this seminar is to show how I have used my sociological and historical knowledge in this field, along with my network of contacts in the sporting world to successfully leverage aspects of the KPIs expected of us as a researcher within CBiS. This includes over £2million in successful funding applications (with a further £1m worth under review), internalisation on a global scale, seven books published with another about to go to press and a steady stream of journal articles. The aim of this seminar is to not only introduce my research field, but also to highlight how I have successfully leveraged my networks to achieve these successes.
