This event forms part of Coventry University's Festival of Social Science.
A half day workshop for shared learning, discussion and exploration. Standard ‘healthy eating’ messages teach a narrow focus on lifestyle change which diverts attention from the fact that the route to population wellbeing lies in anti-racist social change, not personal eating behaviours.
Mainstream narratives fail to meet at the cross-roads of food poverty, sustainability, racism, and health which means it can be hard to know how to translate our ideas on social justice into action.
In this interactive session we will explore how we can talk about food and nutrition in ways that help tackle racism, ableism, classism and fat shaming as part of a bigger conversation for anti-colonial, liberatory practice.
An interactive event for community food workers (including volunteers) and anyone interested in the topic.
Drinks and refreshments provided. Free, booking required.
