Research Enriched Learning (REL) is a key element of the Coventry University Group Strategy, striving to ensure research feeds into teaching and learning across all areas of the group.

To date, a lot of our REL activity has been led from a dedicated expert REL team of educators. Although strategies and plans are in place to ensure that REL is embedded across all schools and faculties is a core priority for the Coventry University Group, we are perhaps missing out on including the student viewpoint in the REL conversation.

The Centre for Global Learning (GLEA) has taken a keen interest in REL and what it means for our university (and beyond) and have started to develop a research cluster in this area.  With a strong combination of REL champions and researchers with a strong history of engaging students as expert partners, GLEA hopes to draw together expertise from its staff and students to better understand REL and to ensure REL is being used intelligently and transformative to the benefit of our taught students.

This session therefore seeks to explore how REL can better leverage student expertise, how their input can be meaningfully captured within REL teaching design and delivery, and what REL means for the Coventry University Group from a research perspective. Led by Alun DeWinter, research fellow at GLEA, the session will cover the current REL strategy in place, as well as offering a snapshot into the wider literature in this area and initial insights into bringing students in as expert partners.
