Event details

Coventry City Council is one of 30 local authorities across the UK that has been awarded funding to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) by the National Institute of Health and Care Research. The purpose of the HDRC is to establish a research infrastructure at Coventry City Council and develop a culture of evidence-based decision making. Through this work, the HDRC aim to tackle health determinants and reduce health inequalities in Coventry, as well as impacting nationally and internationally. By working with the people of Coventry to identify their needs and priorities, the collaboration aims to stimulate, support and disseminate research to identify evidence-based solutions to tackle health inequalities in the city to improve the lives of residents.

The purpose of this event is to offer an initial space for researchers and representatives from Coventry City Council to network, and to explore ideas for future research collaborations. This is an opportunity to identify shared goals and develop ideas to future work with local council stakeholders. The HDRC will also introduce opportunities for funded research placements within Coventry City Council related to health determinants.

Representatives from Coventry Council and the two Universities will give short presentations outlining their interests and attend to discuss possible ideas for collaboration. The following areas of interest and relate to health determinants:

  • Digital inclusion

  • Employment and skills
  • Housing
  • Transport
