Coventry University are delighted to announce that Dr. Geraldine Brady has been awarded a readership in Sociology of Childhood and Youth.
Dr. Brady joined Coventry University in 2004 having finished her doctorate at Warwick. As a sociologist she takes a critical approach to social issues and her research activity has been instrumental in the development of three substantive areas:
The Readership, which takes effect from 4th January 2016, is the culmination of her research with different groups experiencing inequality, with the main focus of her contribution being to critically challenge dominant discourses and ideas that shape the lives of children and young people.
‘The principle of social justice underpins my approach to scholarly activity, the key driver for myself and my colleagues has been to extend the boundaries of social research; to consider how research can be more effectively used to influence practice, policy making and, most importantly, to positively impact on the lives of people.’ says Dr Brady. ‘I’m extremely pleased to be awarded a Readership, and credit my success to always being part of strong teams of colleagues who share the same values.’
