Electric Revolution Skills Hub
Coventry University is home to the Electric Revolution Skills Hub, part of the UK’s initiative in Driving the Electric Revolution.
As countries across the globe aim to tackle climate change through the electrification of new technologies, the UK is accelerating its push for a net zero carbon economy by investing into the development of the skills needed to implement clean technology supply chains.
The Electric Revolution Skills Hub will support the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) business community.
Our approach
A digital platform will provide an extensive range of training and development opportunities to upskill the UK’s workforce whilst delivering clean innovations such as the next generation of electric transport and energy delivery systems.
The skills hub will connect training and education providers with employers and learners as well as professionals already working in the PEMD arena who want to develop expertise in specialist areas.
Building on heritage
For Coventry and the West Midlands, the skills hub builds on the region’s historic roots in transport design and car manufacture, while supporting its growing reputation for electrification solutions, demonstrated by initiatives such as the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre near Coventry Airport, and the West Midlands Gigafactory.
The hub will aim to organise and host a range of innovative and traditional courses that meet industry needs and encourage the sharing of PEMD skills and expertise for electrification in the UK.
In addition to the role of being a central skills and jobs platform, the hub will engage with the communities involved in PEMD by hosting events, gathering input and providing horizon-scanning and skills audit services.
The Electric Revolution Skills Hub compliments the low carbon technology solutions being developed by Coventry University innovators, see our work in:
