Research within the ‘Investigating Creative Economies’ theme takes a focus on the nature, scale, scope, infrastructures, ecologies, contribution and future potential of creative economies, through an analysis of how they are made by a diversity of economic and social processes and the outcomes for economy, society and environment.
Internationally, the growth and growing significance of the creative industries has been replicated throughout Europe and across the global economy. At the forefront of economic development, the creative industries are seen as crucibles of (social) innovation models and new products and services (createch; intangible heritage), entrepreneurship, new types and forms of organisation, employment, governance and business models. Offering possibilities of, and intersections with, a range of new framings of prosperous, sustainable and socially just economies, communities and places, creative economies continue to exhibit characteristics of exclusion and marginalisation, precarity, appropriation, and environmental degradation.
The Evolving Mindsets for Business and Finance Professionals project investigates how, through performance-led artistic interventions and provocations, the creative arts and playfulness can best be utilised to change traditional mindsets and facilitate a more integrated approach to the business of accounting.
