About us
Artificial Intelligence and the Data Economy is one of the UK Government’s Grand Challenges. Whilst described as a distinct challenge, the reality is that the management and use of data is also at the core of the other three Grand Challenges: the Future of Mobility, Clean Growth and the Ageing Society.
Our centre aims to address these challenges by creating fundamental advances in Computational Science, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Mathematical Modelling. These are designed to solve real world application problems and be meaningfully validated as such. To achieve this the centre draws not only on expertise in Computer Science but also engineering, social science, and strong partnerships with industry.
We aim to provide a supportive environment where researchers of different experiences but common interests can work together and learn from each other.
Coventry University is proud to be a member of the Turing University Network, further highlighting its growing expertise in data science and artificial intelligence. Find out more about the network.

Facilities
The Centre for Computational Science and Mathematical Modelling is based within the Coventry University Technology Park, in Building 10 of the Innovation Village. Facilities available to our researchers in IV10 include a fully fitted electronics lab, an Internet-of-Things lab complete with demo area, dual monitor fitted desk space, and two rooms with full A/V for video conferencing, plus kitchen and social areas.
Our researchers can access a full spectrum of computing power ranging from individual laptops and desktops, through our set of 32-core workstations in IV10 and the Coventry University HPC cluster, to SULIS: a state of the art £3 million supercomputer. Take a virtual tour below.
