Call for contributions: Postdigital Intimacies
The AHRC Network Postdigital Intimacies and the Networked Public-Private is looking to generate discussion about its themes through blog content covering new research, critical commentary and the development of new ideas.
The network looks to create new knowledge on intimacy in a postdigital context. It understands intimacy in the broadest sense. Where most accounts of intimacy focus on sexual or kinship relationships, the network looks to widen this, thinking about intimacy as a relational concept, or series of relationalities that are digitally mediated and more than human.
We also propose that these relationalities constitute the postdigital context. The network understands this postdigital context as one where the digital has become deeply intertwined and inseparable from how we understand ourselves, our bodies, other people and our worlds.
We apply this concept to a range of spaces where divisions between public and private are now seen as indistinct.
Contributions of 1000 words are sought that may speak to any of the following areas:
- Failures of intimacy and relationality
- New visual cultures of intimacy
- Networked digital publics and labour
- Postdigitally mediated bodies
- Art, activism and archivism between the public-private
- Postdigital intimacies in pandemic contexts
We are open to other topics, please feel free to get in touch to discuss ideas. We particularly welcome contributions from PhD and ECR researchers.
The network is run by Dr Adrienne Evans (Centre for Postdigital Cultures, Coventry University) and Prof Jessica Ringrose (Institute of Education, University College London).
