PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The aim of this project is to examine the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie beliefs in the supernatural using non-invasive brain stimulation.

RESEARCH IMPACT

This project has the unique potential to elucidate the neuro-cognitive bases of spiritual beliefs, as well as the lack or denial of spiritual ideas. We are also considering the ethical consequences of modifying beliefs through neural stimulation. We are dealing with questions about the biology and modification of beliefs, which affect everyone, whether religious, spiritual or atheist/agnostic.
