Project objectives
This research programme brings together a national, multidisciplinary team of experts to develop and evaluate simple to use, rapid, accurate, tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that can be networked through mobile phones. Clinical management, treatment and follow up of individuals who test positive will be online using remote management pathways ‘eSexual Health clinics’, embedded within NHS sexual health services. The research team includes microbiologists, biotechnologists, clinicians, Health Protection Agency, health technology assessment expertise, telecommunications partners, human technology interface experts, and health scientists, working closely with industry collaborators.
