Project summary
This seminar series investigated the relationship between sustainable development and maritime security in order to increase maritime domain awareness and our understanding of the experiences of different vulnerable populations, such as coastal communities, in the face of insecurity. The seminar series encapsulated the delivery of six seminars over a two year period (2014-2015). The seminars explored challenges such as illegal fishing, irregular migration by sea, and armed violence against seafarers, whilst also considered the role new technology might play in enhancing maritime and human security. Each seminar included academics, policy makers and practitioners from around the world.
