Project overview
Freelancers within the creative industries are currently the focus of campaigning and targeted research, as well as being noted as a significant proportion of the workforce. The project’s policy engagement and research scoping activities provide updated insight into creative freelance business models in order to inform policy and support.
Our previous creative freelancer research commissioned by Nesta’s Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre investigated creative freelancer business models during the pandemic.
The works aims to provide updated insight into creative freelance business models in order to inform policy and support by:
- bringing together policy actors and influencers
- sharing research findings, identify questions, and explore next steps
- scoping longitudinal work to deepen policy engagement and research impact.
Impact statement
The project scoped further investigations into business approaches and challenges with reference to policy interests and data opportunities and framed a longitudinal data approach to further interviews with the previous participant pool.
