How to prepare
We know preparing to meet your potential future course team can make you feel excited and even a little nervous - and that’s completely normal. We are a very friendly university and want for you to enjoy the experience as much as possible. Each course has designed a process to help you to decide if the course is a good fit for you, as well as for us to assess your course suitability.
We've put together 10 tips to help you to prepare:

Download your guidance notes. These will tell you the format to expect, what to bring and what we're looking for.

Book a suitable date and time. If we invite you to a selection process, you'll receive an email explaining how to book. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to prepare.

Test the device you intend to use, to make sure there is good audio and visual quality, and a good internet connection. Your online meeting will use video, so it’s important to make sure you can position yourself and your laptop or mobile device somewhere quiet where it will remain stable.

Make a note of any questions you have. There will be an opportunity to find out more about the course and the university during the process. This is a great way to show your interest in the course and to ask about anything you’re unsure of.

Make notes before meeting your course team. If your course requires an interview, think about what qualities we are looking for and write down any examples you can give on the day. If you are invited to something more informal, then consider how you can demonstrate your passion for the subject.

Allow time to prepare anything you are requested to bring. Putting together a portfolio, audition tape or anything else you’re asked to bring, takes a lot of care and preparation. It’s a reflection of you and what excites you about the course and your future career.

Pay close attention to your guidance notes. They explain exactly what we’re looking for and what to expect. There are no trick questions, we just want to get to know you and make sure the course matches up with your interests and ambitions.

Think about what to wear. The university is a diverse and welcoming community, and we encourage you to be yourself. When you consider what to wear, it’s important to think about the profession your course may lead to and to wear something you feel comfortable in.
