How to use Microsoft Teams
Meeting your course team and potential course mates via a video call is an exciting prospect, but it can feel a bit daunting, particularly if it's a new experience.
When you book your slot, check your confirmation carefully to check whether it will be held on Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
Steps to a successful Microsoft Teams session:
1
If your invitation is for Teams, your email confirmation will contain a link to join on your computer or mobile app. It’s important to keep these somewhere you can easily access it, ready for your session.
2
Choose your device. If you’re using a smartphone or tablet you can download the Teams app by visiting your app store. If you plan to use a laptop or PC you can visit the Teams website.
3
Choose to use your existing account or set up a free account. It may be worth setting up your account in advance and keeping a note of your login details.
4
On the day of your session simply click the link to join. Don’t worry if you’re early, you will be placed into a ‘lobby’ and admitted when the session starts.
5
We will need to be able to see and hear you, so please make sure your microphone, speakers and camera are all turned on. It is a good idea to test these before your session.
6
Please make sure your Teams is displaying the same full name you use in your application. You may also need to make sure you’ve got your ID ready to show us 1:1.
7
Once you have created your account you can try a test call. Find settings then choose device settings and select ‘make a test call’.
8
If on the day you have any technical issues, please contact us as soon as possible by ringing +44 (0)24 7765 2222. Technical issues won’t have any impact on the outcome of your application, but it’s really important that we’re able to rearrange.
9
We want the process to be accessible to all. If you are worried about anything then please get in touch with us by emailing ukadmissions@coventry.ac.uk and we will work together to find a solution.
10
Things don’t always go to plan and there’s many reasons you might not make your slot. If you don’t join the session you have booked onto we’ll be in touch to book you onto another one. The simplest way to make sure you don’t lose out is by letting us know as soon as possible if you have any problems.
