5 things you need to know about our School
- In 2017, we moved to our £60 million Alison Gingell Building, which features a ‘Superlab’ for 250 students and an indoor running track.
- We work to ensure that students gain employability skills throughout our courses to increase the likelihood of you gaining a good job following graduation.
- All undergraduate courses have an option of completing a sandwich or placement year in the UK or abroad.
- We have strong international links and recently the School has partially funded student visits to Argentina, India, Florida, Malawi and Dublin.
- Teaching staff are actively involved in research and consultancy, which informs our teaching and provides opportunities for students to gain extra volunteering experience.
Undergraduate tips
- Make your statement specific to the course you are applying for.
- Tell us what interests and excites you about the subject area.
- Include any relevant work, qualifications or practical experience you have gained.
- Say what your ambitions are for the future.
- Include information about your hobbies and interests.
Postgraduate tips
- Get involved with staff research and consultancy or other volunteering opportunities during your undergraduate degree course – it’s the extra experience you gain during your degree that will make a difference.
- Think about the type of course you want to enrol on – a taught degree is very different to a research degree.
- Don’t be afraid to contact the Course Director in order to discuss the course or area of research.
