In our students' words: Krija Thurairajasingam
Krija is a UK student who came to Coventry as an undergraduate and fell in love with University and city life alike. She was able to stay with us for a postgraduate degree thanks to one of our scholarships.
We were happy she stayed and it was great to catch up with her below.
Coventry is definitely a university with a friendly environment and a diverse community
Why did you choose Coventry to do your Postgraduate study?
Coventry were kind enough to offer me a scholarship! Which managed to cover all my tuition fees. Had I not had the scholarship I wouldn’t have been able to complete my MSc, so the funding definitely helped me enhance my job prospects and aid my career.
What are you enjoying most about the experience of postgrad study at Coventry?
Having the opportunity to meet other individuals who come from various scientific and medical backgrounds. It provides an opportunity to either help teach others who may have been deficient in certain research aspects, whilst also learning from others who may have worked in industry prior to completing their masters. It’s an opportunity to also further enhance your research and laboratory skills in preparation for application in practice.
Had I not had the scholarship I wouldn’t have been able to complete my MSc
How does postgraduate differ to undergraduate?
Postgrad is definitely more challenging. The extent of detail you go into during your research when completing your assignments and depth of knowledge you gain is far more detailed and thorough in comparison to undergrad.
What are your fellow students and staff like?
They’re lovely! Coventry is definitely a university with a friendly environment and a diverse community, regardless of how loud or quiet you are! Staff are approachable, if you need the help or guidance, just speak to them or drop them an e-mail and they’ll always do their best to accommodate you!
What would your advice be to other people considering studying here?
Follow your instinct! If you feel Coventry is a place for you in both a personal and academic level, then go for it. There's diverse community for all backgrounds, an array of facilities available in every faculty and ease in commuting both in and outside of the city. Personally, I didn’t even know where Coventry was until I Googled it, and a few years on I love it and it’s become home, so have an open mind.
