HSK test centre

The Confucius Institute at Coventry University is an official HSK Test Centre. The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is an internationally recognised examination designed to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers to communicate in Chinese in their daily lives, academic and work settings. The exams test a variety of language skills including listening, reading and writing.

We support all levels of HSK, HSKK, BCT and YCT, and offer students, staff and members of the public the ability to take HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), HSKK (Chinese Speaking Test), BCT (Business Chinese Test) and YCT (Youth Chinese Test) exams at our institute.

HSK – Chinese Proficiency Test

The HSK is an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency, and assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. The HSK consists of six levels – from HSK Level 1 through to HSK Level 6.

HSKK – Chinese Speaking Test

The Chinese Proficiency Oral Test HSKK mainly tests candidates’ oral Chinese expression ability, including HSKK (Elementary), HSKK (Intermediate) and HSKK (Advanced). The test is in the form of recording.

BCT – Business Chinese Test

In order to provide reference for the selection and appointment of enterprises, the teaching activities of various schools and training institutions, and the self-evaluation of learners, the test focuses on the ability of non-Chinese first language candidates to use Chinese to communicate in real business or general work situations and to evaluate their language tasks. It consists of three separate exams, BCT (A), BCT (B) and BCT (Speaking). We offer BCT (A) and BCT (B) at the Coventry University Confucius Institute.

YCT – Youth Chinese Test

The YCT is an international standardised test of Chinese proficiency, which tests the ability of primary and secondary school students whose first language is not Chinese to use Chinese in daily life and study. The YCT is divided into two parts: a written test and an oral test, which are independent of each other. Written tests include YCT (Level 1), YCT (Level 2), YCT (Level 3) and YCT (Level 4). Oral tests include Elementary and Intermediate level tests, and the oral tests are recorded.
