Before the exchange of students can take place, a bilateral agreement for student exchange in the relevant subject area must be signed by your home university and Coventry University.

If you are interested in applying, you must check with the coordinator in your home university whether an agreement is in place. Please note that bilateral agreements cannot be signed at the request of individual students. Bilateral agreements limit the number of students who can be exchanged.

If your university does not have a bilateral agreement you can study with us through our Study Abroad (Fee-paying) option. Email studyabroad@coventry.ac.uk

All exchange students wishing to apply to Coventry University must have the support of their home university who must nominate them through our online nomination system. If you have any questions or queries about nominations, please contact your home coordinator at your home institution.

Once we have received your official nomination from your home university, you will receive an email with a link to an online application form.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide information such as following;

• Transcript of records detailing your previous university study and result
• Passport copy
• Proof of B2 English Language qualification

The detail of which information is required will depend on the college or school you are nominated to and will be clearly indicated in the email you receive.
Please note that your application will not be processed if any of the necessary information is not provided.

A minimum requirement is to have B2 level of English (equivalent of 6.5 IELTS Score with minimum 5.5 in every component).

Certain English modules may require a C1 level of English, equivalent to a 7.0 IELTS score. Students who do not have an adequate command of English will experience great difficulty in understanding lectures, producing written work and sitting examinations, as well as integrating into life in Coventry.

Students may be required to prove their language proficiency to apply for a visa unless you are from a country where English is the official language.

The course does not bear a university award, but credits earned might be transferable to your home university.

The normal pattern is to study three 20 CATS credit modules per semester (20 CATS = 10 ECTS). Students should take no more than 60 CATS (30 ECTS) per semester and 120 CATS (60 ECTS) credits per academic year.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee any places in the modules you will select.

All non-UK students will require a visa to study in the UK, including EU and EEA students from 1st January 2021.

Visa options:

1. Standard Visitor Visa allows students to come to the UK for a short period of time (up to 6 months), such as to participate in an exchange programme.
2. Student visa allows the student to come to the UK for study lasting more than 6 months.

Students from the EEA or Switzerland - From 1st January 2021, if students do not have settled/pre settled status, you will need a visa to enter the UK.

Once your application for the ERASMUS and Exchange Study Abroad Programme is successfully completed, you will be contacted by our visa team with more details and the team will provide you with support for the visa application.

When booking your accommodation online, you will need to enter your student ID number and email address you have provided in your application.

University accommodation is not guaranteed, so please ensure you apply as soon as possible.

Please note: you will only be able to apply for accommodation after you have completed your online application and received your offer letter, which contains your student ID. For this reason, it is best to complete your online application as soon as possible.

The college or school cannot assist you in looking for private accommodation. We advise you to search the internet and look at different websites. Remember to read everything very carefully and make sure you sign a contract with your landlord.

You need to make your travel arrangements as soon as possible. It is a requirement for you to be present at enrolment, and we suggest that you arrive in time for the start of term.

If you intend to fly, you can choose one of London’s international airports: Heathrow, Stansted, Luton or Gatwick. Alternatively, you can fly to Birmingham International Airport, which is a 15-minute journey from Coventry. The railway station is connected to the airport by a ‘Skytrain’, so this is a very convenient airport to use.

From Birmingham Airport: by train – the airport and railway station are connected by a free Skytrain, and there are signs to  show you which way to go. Express trains take 10 minutes and non-express around 20 minutes. The train station is approximately 10-15 minutes’ walk from the campus. A taxi from Coventry train station to the university could be expensive depending on the traffic and when you arrive.

By bus – the number X1 bus service links the airport to Pool Meadow Bus Station in Coventry. Pool Meadow is next to the campus. It takes about 35 minutes.

By taxi – this is the easiest option and also the most expensive. It takes around 20-30 minutes.

From Heathrow Airport: by National Express coach – you can buy tickets at their desk in the arrivals hall, or you can book tickets online at www.nationalexpress.com. You will arrive at Coventry’s Pool Meadow Bus Station. The journey takes about two hours.

From Gatwick Airport: by National Express coach – you can buy tickets at their desk in the arrivals hall, or you can book tickets online at www.nationalexpress.com. You will arrive at Coventry’s Pool Meadow Bus Station. The journey takes about three hours and 20 minutes.

From Luton Airport: by National Express coach – you can buy tickets at their desk in the arrivals hall, or you can book tickets online at www.nationalexpress.com. You will arrive at Coventry’s Pool Meadow Bus Station. The journey takes around one hour and 50 minutes.

From Stansted Airport: by National Express coach – you can buy tickets at their desk in the arrivals hall, or you can book tickets online at www.nationalexpress.com. You will arrive at Coventry’s Pool Meadow Bus Station. The journey takes about three hours and 20 minutes.

You will be assigned to the college or school and course, which relates to your study area at your home university. This information will be provided to us at the nomination stage.

Unfortunately, students are not allowed to select more than one course. Students are assigned to the most relevant course/college or school to their original interest of study at their home university.

For example, if you study Business Administration at your home institution, you will be assigned to the College of Business and Law and your course will be ‘FBLU006 - Business and Law (Erasmus and Exchange)’.

Unfortunately, students are not allowed to select modules from different faculties. Students need to select modules within the college or school/course they are assigned.

For example, students cannot select ‘International Relations’ and ‘Business Management’ as these belong to different faculties. (‘International Relations’ belongs to the College of the Arts and Society, and ‘Business Management’ belongs to the College of Business and Law.)

You can either choose to study for one semester or full academic year. Semesters start either in September or January. The duration of stay is also subject to the Bilateral agreements; therefore, you must contact the Coordinator in your home university to confirm the option.

Yes, Internationalisation Office in your chosen college or school can sign your Learning Agreement once your application is successfully completed. Each college or school Internationalisation Office will share more detail of how and when your Learning Agreement can be signed.
