Nursing Midwifery and Health
The former Coventry and Warwickshire College of Nursing and Midwifery transferred to Coventry University in 1996, bringing 800 students and 70 staff.
It is now the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences which trains large number of healthcare professionals who stay in the region after graduating – meaning many of the NHS staff here have trained with us.
Our students undertake placements at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS trusts, George Eliot Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Trust and South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.
More than 75 per cent of nursing, midwifery and paramedic science students from the UK who graduated in 2015/16 from Coventry went on to work in the West Midlands.

Carers Project
Carers of all ages have been involved in two projects to introduce them to the roles of health and social care professionals. The initiatives – one for adult carers and one for young carers – were created in collaboration with the Carers Association. The Young Carers project was shortlisted for the Nursing Times 2015 awards and the Adult Carers was shortlisted for the Nursing Times 2016 awards.
Service User and Carer Engagement (CUSE)
People who use Health and Social Care services and their carers are a growing part of teaching and learning at Coventry University. We work with members of the public who share their experiences of care with students, give views on student coursework, and provide feedback to lecturers highlighting areas of the courses that could be improved.

School of Life Sciences
Sports Therapy Clinic
Our Sports Therapy Clinic is open to members of the public and university staff. It is run by final year students under the supervision of qualified staff to provide advice, assessment and treatment for both acute and long standing problems. Second year students provide a supervised massage clinic twice a week and support athletes with free massages to runners taking part in the city’s half marathon.

Coventry Young Researchers
The annual Coventry Young Researcher sessions aim to teach children about psychology in a fun and engaging way using a range of activities and demonstrations including dressing up to learn about different species’ intelligence levels, and investigating reliability by discovering how many chocolate chips are in packets of cookies.
