Patricia Vilhena Duarte Ferrari
Mature student Patricia Vilhena Duarte Ferrari came to Coventry from Brazil in the hope of achieving her career aspirations of working in Human Resources (HR).
Patricia, age 34, was in the middle of a career transition into HR when her family decided to move to the UK. She tells us the course offering was impressive and the prospect of early enrolment made Coventry stand out:
The MSc in International Human Resource Management at Coventry was the best option because it combined a professional CIPD accredited qualification alongside interesting academic modules.
The January start date was crucial for my decision. I also took into consideration the location of Coventry University, as well as the overall ranking position.
Going back to education and starting a second career can be challenging enough, but Patricia tells us studying at Coventry allowed her to build her support base:
The best part of my course was meeting my new classmates and lecturers, and building new networks and friendships.
It was like being 20 all over again! The majority of my classmates were much younger than me, but I learned a lot from them. My lecturers motivated and challenged me in a very positive way, I had all the support I needed.
I spent a lot of time studying in the library and always felt welcome wherever I was on campus. Coventry University is a very unique place to study.
Patricia’s plans post-graduation are to look for jobs within Human Resources. Her positive university experience has also fuelled a new found passion to study for a PhD and move into lecturing and academia in the future.
Studying at Coventry University has enabled me to obtain the professional qualifications I set out to achieve, said Patricia.
My time at Coventry University has also opened up a new career path for me. I have applied for a PhD Scholarship and hope to follow an academic path in the long term.
